16 Oct '06:

8-8.55am:
Dad is scheduled to go for X-Ray at the head, to check if some of the nerves are affecting his hearing. He reached at 8am sharp & waited till 8.20am for his turn. By the time I reached (8.25am), the nurse said he just walked in. Waited for about 40 mins, Dad came out and we went up to Clinic K (2nd Storey) for Surgeon Consultation.

9am:
Appointment card handed over

9.30am:
Then registration done.

10.20-10.45am:
See Doctor Anton Cheng KS. He advised to Dad on the 2 type of Anesthetics (General & Local). Doc mentioned that Dad is still young & healthy, he should op for Local Anesthetics because for the following few reasons:
1) Less nauseous
2) Less side effects
3) Less pain
4) Faster recovery

Dad fearing the feeling of nauseous and pain, he op for the Local Anesthetics. I did asked him if he fear of the operation and as we know, he always fearful of operation ("open" "knife" in mandrain), but he insist on Local, ok lor.

May be he feels comfortable with this doctor because he is a HongKonger and and speak fluent Cantonese. Dad feels more assured by Doc Anton's reassurance and comforting words & advice. He mentioned that this ops will be done by his subordinates and he will supervised by the side.

10.45-11am:
Make Payment of $18.00 for consultation fees. Dad says: "Wow say a few words and earn $18.00 liao"(Gong ge goi fei wa, zou yio pei $18.00: In cantonese)

11-11.25am:
At the appointment room, the nurse advise Dad to fast at 12 Midnight the very day before the ops. She asked Dad to turn up on 9.30am on 27th Oct '06 for the ops. The ops will be at 10.30am. She also asked some questions regarding the Medisave and ward matters.

11.40-11.50am:
Dad then went next door to see the Anesthetist. After checking his blood pressure and other details, he advised Dad to do Local Anesthtics. Dad promptly agreed.

11.55-12.05pm:
Dad then was told to go for Blood Test. "Wow... I lost 2 tubes of blood again liao... Not enough blood liao!!!", Dad said.

12.10-1pm:
Dad then told to do an X-ray on his stomach area, to be prepared for the ops next Friday.
What a "long" X-ray.... Waited for 50minutes to take a, just 1 minute X-ray. What a Long wait!!!

29 Sep '06

9am: Dad went to ENT Department for hearing test and check up.

The nurse 1st dug out some ear wax in dad's ear and after 5 mins, they did a hearing test on both his ears.

It seems that, after the dig, his left ear which is normally quite unclear, sounds much clearer.

However, the hearing test shows that the Right & the Left hearing results, differs alot. Right is perfectly okie, while the Left ear is much poorer then the Right ear.

Doc feels that, it may be affected by the nerves at the brain.

Doc arranged Dad to go for an X-Ray Scan on the brain nerves on 16 Oct '06.

Dad also went to the collect the medicine (Enhanced Vitamin B) to nourish his brain nerves.
2 packs, small pack cost only $2.10, while the other pack (2 bottles of 30 tablets each) costing $57.50 for 2 bottles.

At 11am, Dad then went to queue for Clinic J to see the Dietitian. Only at 11.45 am, we saw the Dietitian. The conversation between Dad and the Dietitian seems so fake and untruth because, Dad seems to be "entertaining" her.

If Dad continues to be like this and so uncooperative, there is really very little that we can do to help him.
He says that:
-> He eats outside food always. (But Mum has been cooking for her every meal nowadays)
-> He eats fruits, 1 apple/day. (But I don't see him eat any, only lately, Mum cut half for him)
-> Homecook food always use Canned Food. (When did Mum use Canned Food!!!!!!)

Doc advises him to:
Eat less saltish stuffs, such as salty vege, salted egg, less gravel,
Drink Yakult & En Cal Plus Milk to improve his weight masses
Eat more fruits, 2 servings per day.
Eat less canned food!!!

28 Sep '06:

1st follow-up checkup:
Clinic J (Doc Low TingTing):
Liver test result: shows Normal.

Doc take further checks on dad and discovered that he is Blood Pressure is slight HIGH. Doc Low recommend to use diet to tune down the High Blood Pressure. She also mention that, it could be due to anxiety and worrying too much that causes the Blood Pressure to be HIGH.

Dad also surfaced another problem: There is a lump at the Right Groin area. Doc checked and identified that its known as Igunial Hernia. Doc explained that, this is a situation where the intestines were pushed outwards together with the stomach mucles skin. This situation could be caused by various reasons. Some common ones are: pregnant lady using too much strength on their stomach muscles during giving birth, and, people who are suffering from constipation, uses too much strength to trying to "dispose" their waste.

For this condition, Doc strongly advised that, Dad should undergo an ops to push the stomahc muscles & the intestines back. Dad was rather reluctant of medical operations, moreover, he does not feel any pain in the region. However, Doc advised that the Ops got to be done asap and if not, when the pain arises, the situation will be much difficult to salvage.

Nurse had arrange the following appointment:
4 Months Later: See Doc Low @ Clinic J.
16 Oct '06: See specialist at Clinic K for explanation on the above mentioned operation.
29 Sep '06 @11am: To see Dietitian to see the kind of food and diet that dad has to monitor and follow.

15 Sep '06:
Doc bring dad to scan for his liver again. He was send to do a CT Scan to check for the abnormality for the Liver test.

14 Sep '06

Colonoscopy Ops: To see what is inside the intestines blocking & causing the faeces blockage. After whole night drinking the "Clear" Bowels water, the faeces blocking inside Dad's intestines are gone. There are nothing blocking, the passage is clear.

Dad had his 1st major operation. After the anthestic injection, he said that he was brought to a beautiful park with many pretty and beautiful flowers.

Bro's father-in-law came with his younger brother, to visit Dad during lunchtime today.

Later the day, the nurse pushed Dad to take another X-Ray to double check again what is inside the intestines. X-Ray results shows "All Clear!"

13 Sep'06:
Another Blood test (Liver: Slight Abnormal)

Need to do X-ray: results: Normal.

Doc instruction to Dad to drink some "Cleanse" intestines overnight to "clear" his bowels and prepare him for his Colonoscopy ops tomorrow.

12 Sep '06:- Dad Admits into Alexandra Hospital

Dad has not been feeling well since 1 week ago. He has been having kinda diarrhea for the past 2 weeks. He tried to "dispose" but only watery waste has disposed. Worse, he gone to toilet every 15mins, trying to "dsipose" but to no avail. ;( Mum is very worried!

On 09/10th Sep, Dad had gone to see Doc Leong at Henderson. Given some charcoal & panadol, it did not help much ;(

On 11 Sep '06 around midnight, Dad is already feeling unwell, going to toilet 3-4 times every hour during the night time. Mum is real worried & ask Dad to go to hospital since everyone is at home, but Dad suggested to wait for a few more hours as he had just taken medicine.

On 12 Sep '06, it seems that Dad's condition is getting worse, Mum immeidately called me. After more discussion, she then send Dad to Alexendra Hospital (AH) as he had earlier went there to see doctor.

Once dad at the hospital, nurses took his temperature when they realised that he has slight fever. They then kept him in observation ward for further monitoring. After about 3 hours, they feel that they need to admit him as they need more time to diagnose his illness.

Following all procedures for admission and transfer from observation ward to normal ward, they did a series of blood test for him.

1st Test: Homogenous; Results: Normal (13Sep'06)
2nd Test: White Blood Cell; Results: Normal (13Sep'06)
3rd test: Tyroid; Results: Normal (13Sep'06)
4th Test: Any Germs in Blood Stream; Results: Normal (14Sep'06)
5th Test: Liver; Results: Slight Abnormal

The nurses also did a X-Ray which shows that: there are many faeces stuck in the intestine.
